"Inside the MSIB Journey: Student Stories and Experiences"

The Certified Internship and Independent Study (MSIB) Program is an Independent Campus program that provides opportunities for students to hone their skills and gain hands-on experience in the industrial world. This program consists of two parts, namely internships and independent studies. Internships are carried out at partner companies for 16 to 24 weeks, while independent study is classroom learning that is recommended to be done online. Students are free to choose up to 22 internship vacancies that match their interests and majors. They will also receive certification after passing the evaluation

Unilife Untold had the privilege of sitting down with one of the students at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, currently enrolled in the MSIB program in Educourse to gain insights into their experiences and perspectives. She was Yasmine Amalia Resmaya, usually called Yasmine. We are asked about things related to activities she had participated in the MSIB program, Their responses are as follows:

1. What motivated you to pursue the MSIB Program?

The thing that made me join this program because I want to get new experience in internships, especially in start-ups like Educourse. I want to know more about how to teach students, especially using the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) method that is used in this company. "

2. Can you share a specific course or project you found particularly interesting in the MSIB curriculum?

Honestly, there is no such curriculum used in this company. We focus on how we use the STEM method in teaching English. So, we are not only teaching English but also preparing some simple STEM projects in every English learning."

3. Can you provide an example of how your coursework has directly applied to real-world education situations?

By giving them some STEM projects, I believe that students will understand how it works and understand the things that are similar to it in the real world, especially in education. I believe that all of us know that lately, the way of English teaching is using old methods or teacher-centered. By using this STEM method, students will not be bored and get excited about learning English. An example of a simple STEM project in English learning like how to make a paper airplane. I, as a teacher, have to guide my students about the paper airplane, "How can it fly? How does it fly?". In the real world, students will know how the real airplane works."

4. Are there any specific moments or lessons that stand out as transformative in your MSIB journey?

Of course! I am required to think creatively about what learning and STEM activities I will create. I am also required to be responsive in handling certain situations such as teacher changes, impromptu class teaching, and impromptu meetings. Therefore, during my MSIB internship journey, I am always prepared to face my work environment. "

5. What advice would you give to anyone who considering joining the MSIB program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang?

" Just do it! This program is very beneficial for career development. Not only will you learn from the campus, but you will also gain experience working in companies, especially start-ups. This is a great step for student skill development provided by the Ministry of Education. Feel free to ask me about this program. "

For those considering the MSIB program, let these voices be a guide and testament to the transformative potential that exists within the halls of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. As the MSIB community grows, so does its impact on the global future.
